Luke proposed in the first week of lockdown and we were married 2 years later.
It’s such a beautiful venue! We visited a few different places, but Falcon Manor was the one for us. We love the country house manor feel, the small details and fantastic decor already in place. The size was perfect for our guests, with enough break out spaces to have quieter areas as well as the main reception area. It really did feel like our own place for the weekend and our guests were so impressed.
We had lots of friends and family travelling from all over the UK and abroad, so it was important the venue wasn’t in the middle of nowhere. Settle and the Yorkshire Dales provided the perfect backdrop for a weekend away, and is accessible with Settle train station just down the road from Falcon Manor.
Our colour theme was dusky pink and sage green.
The great thing about Falcon Manor is that it already looks beautiful without needing to dress the room (the fluffy lights are amazing!). To make the ceremony room extra special, we also hired a floral wedding arch from Wildfire Floral after absolutely loving their work on our first visit to Falcon Manor. The arch was just gorgeous and provided a real focal point to frame the ceremony and the wedding breakfast.
The Piano Guys instrumental version of Perfect by Ed Sheeran.
After the menu tasting, our winners were the King Scallop, Chorizo and Pork Belly and Black Pudding Scotch Egg for starters, and the Honey Glazed Duck and Roast Beef for mains. Our vegetarian options were Carrot and Coriander Soup and Lentil Wellington. Then we went for the classic Sticky Toffee Pudding and a lighter Mango and Passion fruit Cheesecake for dessert. For the evening buffet there was only one option for us: all the pies.
In the evening we also hired a doughnut wall from Personal Iced Cakes which looked incredible and went down unbelievably well.
For our evening reception, we had Nathan from DFC as our DJ and wanted to add something extra special so also hired a saxophonist from DFC who added live music. Both were absolutely fantastic and kept the dancefloor filled the whole night. Our first dance was to Baby I’m Yours by the Arctic Monkeys.
Jules Fortune. Jules was highly recommended by a friend and we absolutely love her documentary style, which suits us perfectly because we don’t ordinarily like having our pictures taken! Jules was brilliant all day, capturing all of the emotions (including the panic when the ring didn’t go on easily!) and blending in with the guests to get the best candid shots. We can’t recommend Jules enough!
Our Wedding Coordinator Freya was fantastic to work with to create our perfect day. Nothing was too much trouble, and she was incredibly patient and professional in the face of a lot of questions in the run up!
We want to give huge thanks and credit to Gareth, the General Manager, and all of the Falcon Manor staff who absolutely made our day run perfectly. Our day started early (ceremony at 11) but it went by in a flash and everyone was well looked after throughout (drinks topped up!). As the Bride and Groom, we didn’t have to worry or think about a thing on the day – we could just enjoy, and we definitely did! We had so many comments from guests about how smooth the day ran and that was all down to Gareth and team.
It was really important to us to have female voices during the speeches, and not just the traditional male speeches. So, as well as the Father of the Bride, Groom, and Best Man, we also had Bride and Bridesmaids speeches.
We tried to incorporate many handmade items into the day. We designed and created all of the stationery ourselves, punched the confetti, and made the knitted table numbers for the wedding breakfast.
