VENUE Why did you choose Holmes Mill?

It’s effortlessly beautiful and rustic, we didn’t think we’d have to do tons to the venue to make it look wedding-ready. We were sold when we saw it on an open day, it was just perfect for us! One of our main requirements was having a bar in the same space as the dancefloor, so that was a big tick. As was having an on-site hotel and good food and drink options. Oh, and being allowed to have our dog at the ceremony!

THEME Did you have a theme?

There wasn’t a theme as such, we chose muted pinks, greens and metallics but we weren’t too worried about it all matching. We both work in food and drink so this was a big part of our day; our table names were all amazing restaurants we’ve eaten at across the world. We also had a personalised signature cocktail menu featuring a ‘Yorkshire Rose’, ‘Espresso Manctini’ (as nods to our heritages) and ‘The Busby’ (in tribute to our dog who attended the ceremony).

CEREMONY What did you walk down the aisle to?

Riptide by Vance Joy (my brother played it on guitar for us).

FOOD How was your wedding breakfast?

We chose from the formal dining menu; truffled mushrooms or ham hock to start, salmon en croute or lamb for main and lemon meringue pie or chocolate and amaretto tart for dessert. We knew people expected us to put on a good feast and we didn’t want our guests to be hungry!

ENTERTAINMENT Tell us about your entertainment

For the evening reception we hired Exceed Events as the DJ and we had a live saxophonist play alongside them. Our friend made us a personalised beer pong table all branded up the same as our wedding stationary, people played this whilst being on and off the dancefloor, great fun!

PHOTOGRAPHY Your photos are amazing, who was your photographer?

Our photographer was Wyldbee. Her style and edit were so dreamy! We met her for a pre-shoot and she was just amazing and made us feel so comfortable.

WEDDING COORDINATOR How did you find your wedding coordinator?

Really good! Emily and Charlie were so helpful and supportive, especially as we had to move our wedding by a year due to COVID. I had lots of questions and requests, especially as the date got closer, and they were more than happy to help.

PLANNING Did anyone in particular bring your wedding to life?

We both were involved in the planning but friends and family helped with some elements and were involved in our day which made it feel extra personal. My brother sang me down the aisle, our friend sang at the drinks reception, David’s mum made the amazing cake and our friends helped with mics/speakers and a personalised beer pong table!

EXTRA'S Tell us about the little things that made your day personal?

Our French Bulldog, Busby, attended and completely stole the show! (we also had a cocktail named after him!). We both work in food and our table names were all amazing restaurants we’ve eaten at across the world, we had these hand illustrated by an artist we found on Instagram @signedbyjen
