VENUE Why did you choose The Shireburn Arms?

We found the Shireburn Arms after we lost our first venue due to covid but it was like it was meant to be.

The decor, rooms, views, everything fit with our rustic shooting theme to a tee!

THEME Did you have a theme?

Yes, James loves shooting and I have a little business, In A Ruffle, creating feather wreaths, home decor, baubles and more. So the pheasant and country theme just felt perfect for us!

We have working dogs too, so we went all out with feathers, wood, lots of foliage, tweed and earthy country colours.

CEREMONY What did you walk down the aisle to?

We had a church wedding at St John’s, Ingrow where we live, so it had to be the bridal march.

FOOD How was your wedding breakfast?

We wanted a meal that was tasty but relaxed and we offered our guests a choice to ensure everybody was happy. We had fishcake, duck leg or soup to begin, followed by chicken, beef dinner or vegetable linguine for main. We then finished off with brownie (my favourite) and cheesecake, James’ favourite!

ENTERTAINMENT Tell us about your entertainment

We had DJ Dan Johnson, who provided the tunes all night!

PHOTOGRAPHY Your photos are amazing, who was your photographer

Mya from Silvery Moon Photography was with us for the day and Jack Masterson from Masterson Films was our videographer. We chose both because their styles reflected our theme and I loved that they are both so down to earth and relaxed.

It fit with our day perfectly.

WEDDING COORDINATOR Did you have a wedding coordinator?

We didn’t have an external coordinator. I planned everything in the lead up myself with the help of the wonderful ladies at the Shireburn Arms.

PLANNING Who helped plan your wedding? Did anyone in particular bring your wedding to life?

Without blowing my own trumpet, I did a lot of it myself.

However, I did use lots of local and small businesses as I think this is very important. We had personalised cookies for our kids favours, a friend from Scarletter designs helped with vinyls, personalised clothing etc, Gemma at Rock and Wreath dresses the venue and provided our foliage. I could go on as we were very lucky to have so many lovely local people and small businesses involved.

EXTRA'S Tell us about the little things that made your day personal?

For us, I think having the theme and style of day we always dreamed of. Creating lots of the decor myself I was able to put together the vision we both wanted and add special touches such as our welcome easel, that nobody else will have had before so it was completely unique.
