Beth and Dave met in the summer of 2018 during the world cup! Beth posted on her Instagram that she was watching the game on the big screen and ‘slid into her DM’s’ to ask where she was … and the rest, as they say, is history!
I’ve loved Mitton Hall since I was a little girl, it has always been my dream venue. My mum always told me to lower my standards when I was younger – I don’t think she wanted to foot the bill! We only viewed one other venue but when I took Dave to see Mitton Hall for the first time he loved it straight away and I couldn’t help but cry!! The first of many wedding tears. I knew it had to happen so we arranged a meeting for the next week!
I didn’t have a specific theme for the wedding day, I just knew I wanted it to be natural and relaxed. I wanted everyone to feel comfortable and enjoy themselves. I decided to stick to whites and greens and keep everything fresh, but when my dress ended up having a blush underskirt, I quickly added some pink tones to my bouquet! I kept everything else green & white throughout.
I walked down the aisle to Dermot Kennedy ‘After Rain’. Daves favourite song. He introduced me to his favourite artist, Dermot, as soon as I met him! We have since been to see him yearly! We’ve watched him grow from being a little known artist to hitting the charts. ‘After Rain’ was one of Dermot’s first songs and not many people know of it – but it was perfect for our moment. (I was determined to make Dave cry – happy tears of course!)
We decided to choose a meat, fish and veggie option for each course. Dave prefers meat and I’m more of a seafood fan so we each choose our favourites of each from the list. Dave loves Lamb so I knew he would go for that! Salmon is one of my favourites and I love anything asian inspired so when I saw the salmon with lime & Chilli it was perfect. One of my bridesmaids was Vegan so we went for the Lentil Dahl for the third dish! Desserts we chose one each as well – Dave ALWAYS orders sticky toffee when we go out for a meal and it proved a very popular choice with our guests!
Dave is a DJ and we had around 6 guests that were DJs too! So entertainment was important! After much deliberation we decided we wanted our guests to enjoy the day so we opted to use EXCEED recommended by Mitton Hall, as Dave realised he had worked along side the DJ previously so he was confident in his taste! Along side the DJ we had Elara playing live Sax and Pav playing percussion – two of our very talented friends and they made the evening so much fun!
Our photographer was one of my best friends! Lily North Photography. Her work is bright, natural and fun! It was a hard decision to make as I really wanted Lily to be a guest, maybe even a bridesmaid, but I knew there was no one else I could trust with my wedding photos! In the end I was SO pleased with my decision as Lily was an integral part of my day and naturally ended up by my side for most of it. She was fantastic, all the guests loved her! I may be biased but I cannot recommend her enough.
We worked very closely with Emily during our original wedding date prep and she was fantastic. She replied to my emails at all hours of the day and never judged my ridiculous questions. She guided us through our postponement with ease, it was such an emotional time but Emily couldn’t have been more helpful. She just got it – Emily is a huge asset to Mitton Hall. After the postponement and further lockdowns we dealt with a number of other coordinators who were all equally as helpful – it was just easier the first time only dealing with one staff member rather than multiple! I’d also like to mention Hannah who was with us whilst I was VERY stressed on our wedding Eve and was with us throughout the Wedding Day itself – she hosted the event so naturally, nothing was too much for her and the day ran smoothly. It was very stress free in the end!
My mum was my rock throughout my wedding planning – I would have been lost without her. Its no joke when I say I was on the phone to her 3 times a day! My bridesmaid Sofie came to every single appointment with me and helped with many, many decisions followed by many bottles of Prosecco! My 5 bridesmaids were all fantastic throughout, especially Laura who gave birth only 2 weeks before!
